WHEN SHOULD I GO TO HOSPITAL WITH A DENTAL PROBLEM?
GENERAL ADVICE

Typically, if you have been involved in an incident or accident that has caused trauma to your teeth, gums or jaw, you should contact your Doctor (GP) as soon as possible for initial advice. They will be best placed to say if you should visit Hospital. However, if you are experiencing any of the following, the NHS guidelines recommend that you should go to your nearest Hospital with an Accident & Emergency (A&E) Department straight away:

If you have toothache and...

The area around your eye or your neck is swollen.

You have swelling in your mouth or neck which is making it difficult for you to breathe, swallow or speak.
